Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strengthening academic, research and technical collaboration in the areas of sericulture and textiles.
The MoU envisages collaborative activities in post-cocoon technology and textile-oriented activities, said Biswaranjan Ghosh, Director, SVPISTM, Coimbatore, an autonomous institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, after exchanging MoU documents with M. Raveendran, Registrar and acting Vice-Chancellor of TNAU.
The collaboration will provide opportunities for sericulture students of TNAU to acquire practical knowledge and hands-on experience in silk processing, textile applications and value-added product development at SVPISTM.
The TNAU students will have access to specialised textile testing, processing, weaving, knitting and garment construction facilities at SVPISTM, a TNAU press release said.
The MoU will also create opportunities for technology transfer, capacity building and development of innovative applications and value-added products in the sericulture and textile sectors.
