The Tamil Nadu Association for Cottage and Tiny Enterprises (TACT) has appealed to the Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar to protect micro industries that face action based on complaints from competing industries in industrial hubs in the district.
In a memorandum submitted to the Collector on Monday (December 15, 2025), the Association pointed out that one of its members who has an industry at Irugur and provides direct and indirect employment to nearly 25 people faced problems recently as the local body threatened to seal the unit based on a complaint from another unit.
“The industry is operating in an area that has permission for residential and industrial buildings. It complies with the mandatory norms and provides direct employment to 10 people and indirect employment to another 15. The local bodies and government agencies should not take action based on a complaint from another unit,” the Association said.
It appealed to the Collector to protect the micro industries from such threats and complaints.
