Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka of Telangana High Court on Monday (December 22, 2025) declined to grant any interim relief to GITAM university which filed an interim application seeking direction to Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited to restore power supply which was disconnected over non-payment of dues to the tune of ₹118 crore.

The authorities disconnected power supply to the private university on December 19 after the judge took a serious note of the authorities not taking action against in the matter despite non-clearance of power bill dues. The judge did not agree with the contentions of the counsel for the university that the power arrears did not belong to the university but had to be borne by M/s VBC Ferro Alloys Limited.

Though the university and the company were under the same ownership, the dues cannot be attributed to the university, its counsel contended. The judge adjourned the matter to December 24 for next hearing.
