The State government on Friday sanctioned ₹16.62 crore for setting up additional infrastructural facilities for the Telangana Public School (TPS) programme in Gajwel Assembly constituency of Siddipet district.
It is here that the government proposes to mark the launch of TPS in the State, starting with the 2026-27 academic year.
The TPS in Gajwel will commence with classes from pre-primary to Class VIII, while the higher classes, from IX to XII, will begin in the 2027-28 academic year.
The State government, as part of the programme, and as recommended in the Telangana Education Policy, proposes to develop the TPS from the existing government schools, with fully equipped campuses, and provide education from pre-primary to Class XII, accommodating about 1,500 students. A budget of ₹500 crore was earmarked for the TPS programme.
