Road accident data for the first four months of the past six years point to a mixed trend in Telangana, with the number of crashes continuing to rise even as fatalities declined sharply in early 2026, according to data available with the police.

A comparative analysis shows that accidents increased by 2.5% to 9,313 between January and April this year, the highest figure recorded during the period under review. However, the number of deaths fell to 2,363, marking a 15.3% decline from 2025 and the lowest fatality count since 2023, despite the higher volume of accidents.
