Temporary nurses start wait-in protest on TVMCH premises seeking regularisation of service

Members of Tamil Nadu MRB Nurses Empowerment Association staged dharna on the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital premises here on Friday seeking the regularisation of their job as promised by the DMK in its poll manifesto for Assembly election 2021.

The protesting nurses said the DMK, in its poll manifesto, had promised to make permanent all nurses appointed with consolidated pay and recruit the nurses who were appointed on temporary basis during COVID-19 outbreak and then terminated by the previous AIADMK government. However, the DMK had comfortably forgotten this promise and was refusing to make them permanent even four years after assuming office.

“We’ve started our wait-in protest on the TVMCH premises and will not leave this spot without getting any concrete assurance from the Chief Minister,” the protestors said.

Similar agitation was started on the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital premsies where more than 100 temporary nurses participated.
