Minister for Prohibition and Excise K. Vignesh on Monday launched ‘Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam’ at the Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital in Dindigul.
Dindigul Collector Durgamoorthi, Nilakottai MLA R. Ayyanar, Singanallur MLA K.S. Sri Giri Prasad, Dindigul GH Dean J. Sri Saravanan, Joint Director of Health Services S. Bharathi, District Health Officer Selvakumar and others were present.
Under the scheme, babies born in government healthcare institutions on or after June 22 were the beneficiaries, and each infant would be given a gold ring weighing one gram.
Henceforth, the infants born in the government healthcare institutions would be given the gold ring when they get discharged along with their mothers from the government healthcare institutions.
In Dindigul district, a total of 3,060 infants were given gold rings.

In Theni district, Theni Collector R. Vaithinathan launched the scheme at the Government District Headquarters in Periyakulam. A total of 2,543 infants were given gold rings across Theni district.
Sub-Collector (Periyakulam) Dhawlendu, Joint Director of Medical Services Anbuchezhiyan (in-charge), District Health Officer M. Varatharajan, Hospital Superintendent Kumar and others were present.
