Three foreign women were arrested by the Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) in a cross-State operation after they were found to be involved in drug peddling and related unlawful activities, officials said.
The arrests were made near the Telangana–Andhra Pradesh border following sustained electronic and physical surveillance by officials from Warangal. Although the suspects managed to discard a small quantity of drugs while attempting to evade the police during the chase, officers recovered fake passports and visas from their possession.
According to the EAGLE Force, the three women had left Delhi by flight to Visakhapatnam a day before a planned operation in the national capital. With most teams deployed to Delhi, a special team was constituted from Warangal to track the suspects, who had rented a service apartment in Visakhapatnam. Surveillance revealed that they visited the Andhra University campus and allegedly contacted two individuals, identified as Suresh and Harshavardhan, for the sale of drugs.
The police further said the women had been engaged by a man identified as Sandeep from Parvathipuram through a foreign female escort website and that he spent the night with them. By the time the police team reached the service apartment, the women had checked out and were travelling towards Hyderabad, where they were allegedly on their way to meet another contact, Pruthvichandra, at Quthbullapur.
Officials said all three were staying in India illegally and allegedly funding a luxurious lifestyle through drug peddling and flesh trade. A request has been made to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office in Hyderabad for a Movement Restriction Order against the accused.
The EAGLE Force has appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, including illegal stay of foreign nationals and drug trafficking, assuring confidentiality and rewards for credible information.
