Three youths from Thoothukudi and Virudhunagar districts, who had been fraudulently transported to Myanmar and forced to commit cybercrime, have been rescued in Yangon by the Indian Embassy, according to Tiruchi Member of Parliament Durai Vaiko.
In a statement, Mr. Durai Vaiko said based on the representations of the families, he had earlier submitted a memorandum to the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar seeking the rescue of Madhan Kumar, Chithirai Selvakumar, and Naveen Kumar. The three were taken to Myanmar on the promise of employment in Cambodia.
“I have received a communication from the office of Minister of External Affairs stating that the three Tamils have been rescued in Yangon following sustained efforts of the Indian Embassy with the support of the local officials in Myanmar,” Mr. Durai Vaiko said.
The communication said that the three persons would be repatriated upon completion of documentation, he added.
