The police have arrested three persons, including the bride and her boyfriend, on charges of attempting to murder the groom while he was on the way to the marriage ceremony.
According to police, the groom, Ravish, was attacked by unidentified persons with a knife while he was on the way to the Kalyana Mantapa on January 29 evening.
The unidentified assailants stabbed Ravish, who was seated in the front seat of the car and caused injuries on his left arm.Â
Ravish, who lodged a police complaint, said he was stabbed by the unidentified persons, who were travelling in a red coloured car, in an attempt to murder him and stop the wedding.
Special team
The Kollegal Town police registered a case, while a special team was constituted to trace the accused and the vehicle used in the crime.Â
On February 1, the police traced and apprehended the main accused, identified as Darshan, who is the boyfriend of the bride, and Mithun. Â
During interrogation, it was revealed that the bride, who had been engaged to the injured groom, had played a key role and assisted the duo in the crime. The bride, identified as Nayana, was also arrested. The car used in the offence was also seized by the police. Efforts are under way to trace more accused persons, who are absconding, said the police.
The Superintendent of Chamarajanagar district police M. Muthuraj praised the members of the special team for solving the case.
