International conference
The Department of Physics and Research Centre of Sarah Tucker College (autonomous), Palayamkottai has organised an international conference on “Recent Developments in Effective Materials-REDEEMS’26.” A.T. Ravi Chandran, president, Raman Research Foundation, Tiruchi attended the event as special guest.
The first technical session of the conference featured M. Arivazhagan, faculty of science, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He spoke on the topic, “Advanced Functional Nanostructures for Electrochemical Detection Technologies: From Biomedical Diagnostics to Environmental Monitoring.”.
The second technical session was conducted online with Theerthagiri Jeyaraman, academic research professor, Department of Chemistry, Gyeongsang National university, Jinju, South Korea on “Laser Processed Electrocatalysts in Energy Applications.” S. Selvakumar, professor of physics, Thamirabarani Engineering College, Tirunelveli was the resource person of the third session and spoke on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights.”
The conference concluded with the valedictory session, where prizes and certificates were distributed to the best oral and poster presentation winners.
Awareness programme
The Department of Postgraduate Gunapadam, Pharmacology, and Pharmacognosy of the Government Siddha Medical College and Hospital, Palayamkottai organised an awareness programme to mark International Overdose Awareness Day. The special lectures organised as part of the programme explained the health hazards caused by drug overdose, the consequence of self medication, the safe use of medicines and preventive measures to create awareness about the dangers of exceeding prescribed doses. Principal of the Government Siddha College Malliga, HOD of Gunapadam Marunthiyal Sulfin Nihar and other doctors and staff were present.
38th Academic year inauguration
Kerala’s Agriculture Minister T. Siddique inaugurated the 18th annual day and 38th academic year and fresher’s welcome programme at the Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education (NICHE), Kumaracoil.
Mr. Siddique said rapid advances in technology were transforming almost every sector and education institutions have the responsibility to equip students to meet the challenges of a changing world. “There should be no limits to students’ learning,” he added.
The minister inaugurated a Robotic Biomedical Research Centre established in association with Meril Life Sciences. He also launched Project Abhijit, a university level robotic initiative featuring 360 degree mobility and precision arm movement technology. A robotic 3D printing digital construction laboratory, established in partnership with Twasta was also inaugurated.

Awareness programme on electronics
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of National Engineering College, Kovilpatti has organised an awareness programme titled, “Joy of Learning: Exploring the Fundamentals of Electronics,” for the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Villiseri.
The programme was organised with the objective of creating interest and understanding among students about the fundamentals of the electronics field and to highlight the importance of electronics in everyday life.
More than 40 students from the Government Higher Secondary School in Villiseri participated in the programme.
iStorm 2K6
As part of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Department of Computer Applications and Research Centre of Sarah Tucker College (autonomous), Palayamkottai has organised an intercollegiate technical symposium titled, “iStorm 2K26.” Bennison Thilagar Christadoss, principal, Nazareth Margoschis College at Pillayanmanai attended the event as chief guest.
A total of 27 teams from 12 colleges participated in the symposium. Various competitions like quiz, debugging, paper presentation, video making and web designing were conducted and winners were given trophies and certificates.
Campus bazaar
The Deanery of Entrepreneurship and Career Development of Holy Cross College (autonomous), Nagercoil organised its annual campus bazaar. The event aimed to provide practical business and marketing exposure to students. Students across various disciplines set up a total of 74 self-funded stalls. The Department of Commerce received the trophy for the highest number of participation in the event. Cash awards were given to three students for their exemplary sales products.
Sporting achievements
The Boys’ basketball team of the Kings School (Matriculation), Valliyoor emerged as champions, by securing first place in the district level CM- trophy competitions. The girls’ basketball team of the school also performed commendably and secured third place. Meanwhile, the Kings School CBSE Boys’ basketball team secured third place in the district-level competition.
In cricket, the Kings School CBSE girls’ team finished as runner-up. The school has also achieved notable success in swimming, by winning three bronze medals through outstanding performance of its young swimmers.
The outstanding performers were congratulated by Capt. Colin Wagstaff, chairman, Navamani, principal, Jeya Agnes, director, principals and other staff of the school.
Annual day
The annual day of CET College of Nursing, Thidal was celebrated with great splendour and enthusiasm. The distinguished guests of the day included Sunil Jayaharan and Sashya Jayaharan as chief guests. Jamaludeen, former secretary to legislative assembly attended the event as guest of honour and Aloor Shanavas attended as chief guest.
S. Pramila, principal presented the annual report of the college. Students who had excelled in academics and various competitions were honoured with prizes and certificates for their outstanding achievements.

World Patient Safety Day
Empower India and World Patients Alliance organised the World Patient Safety Day conference at the Government School of Nursing in Thoothukudi. The programme was held under this year’s theme, “Safe care for noncommunicable diseases.”
Ebenezer Joel Kumar, dean of Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital inaugurated the conference and released the poster on World Patient Safety Day. A. Sankar, honorary secretary of Empower India, doctors, nurses and other staff were present.
Founder’s day celebrations
The 90th birth anniversary of the founder of K.R. Consortium and Institutions K. Ramasamy was celebrated with several social welfare initiatives and special programmes in and around Kovilpatti. A free basic health care check up was organised at K.R. College of Arts and Science, Kovilpatti. In addition mobile medical camps were organised at several locations including Railway Feeder Road, Nalattinpudur, Thonugal Vilakku and several others. Cleaning drives were conducted at several locations including Kovilpatti Old Bus Stan and others. Healthcare apparatus were distributed to government hospitals and Primary Health Care Centres.
Certificates for granting the Merit scholarship in memory of Kalvithanthai K.Ramasamy were distributed to six students of National Engineering College, 3 sports students of Lakshmi Ammal Polytechnic College and 10 sports students of K.R. College of Arts and Science.
Book fair
The Department of Library and Information Science at Rani Anna Government College for Women, Tirunelveli organised a two day book fair at the college premises. The fair was formally inaugurated by E, Sheela, principal. The primary objective of the book fair was to cultivate reading habits among students and expose them to high quality reference materials across multiple academic disciplines.
