The public can now access all information related to children’s health and the Government’s health schemes for children by dialling the toll-free number 104.
Health Minister Veena George will formally launch this toll-free telephonic service on Friday, at the inauguration of the comprehensive school health programme, Aksharam Anandam, at Cotton HILL GHSS
The State has always given immense attention to children’s health and has devised various schemes to ensure the health of children. While there are schemes galore focusing on children’s health, not many parents know about the facilities that the government is offering for children.
Many parents harbour a lot of doubts about the various schemes available for children and the toll-free number is intended to give out all information as well as clarify people’s doubts about children’s health status, Ms. George said.
Some of the schemes devised for safeguarding the health of children include the free congenital heart care scheme Hridyam, bone marrow transplant programme for children and scoliosis surgery for correcting spinal deformities in children
Sruthitharangam or cochlear implant scheme for children with hearing problems and Kerala Against Rare Diseases or KARE scheme, which offers valuable support to parents who have children with rare diseases are two major schemes .
The toll-free number, which has been established as part of the Health department’s DISHA helpline, will provide all information on these schemes
