Traffic police to allow payment of challans through UPI apps

Delhi traffic police signed on Tuesday a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Bank of India to integrate all major unified payments interface (UPI) with the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) which will enable people pay their traffic challans through these mobile applications.

“This move is aimed at enhancing citizen convenience by simplifying the payment process and encourage timely compliance,” said Satya Vir Katara, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi. “This is expected to increase the volume of daily challan payments while reducing reliance on physical modes of payment,” he added. Upon completion of the required documentation and procedural formalities, technical integration with the BBPS platform will be initiated.
