The Ambamaheshwari Seva Trust has urged authorities make use of the twice-inaugurated Mangaladevi Bus Terminus and prevent blockade of traffic in front of the Mangaladevi Temple, especially during the 10-day Dasara starting on October 11.
In a release, the trust said there will be a marked increase in traffic on the Mangaladevi Temple Road during the Dasara festival, when a large number of devotees visit the temple. City buses presently make a U-turn in front of the temple, which causes inconvenience to other motorists and contributes to traffic congestion in front of the temple. It also increases the risk of accidents.

To prevent congestion in front of the temple, Mangaluru Smart City constructed a new bus terminus, which was inaugurated twice in February 2025. However, it has not yet been put to use. The Trust urged the authorities to operationalise the terminus immediately. It said letters in this regard had been submitted to Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and Senior Regional Transport Officer M.B. Shirolkar.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) K. Ravi Shankar said it was proposed for city buses from different areas to end their journey at the terminal. On starting their new journey, buses will move via the temple and Mulihitlu and move ahead. A brief stop will be provided in front of the temple for people to alight and get in. The MCC has been asked to do some road marking and lay barricades. “The work is on and once the arrangements are in place, the new bus terminal will be put to use,” Mr. Shankar said.
