TVK president Vijay to attend functionaries’ meeting in Salem on February 13

Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay will participate in the party functionaries’ meeting in Salem on February 13.

Earlier, the party cadre had sought permission for a public meeting either near Seelanaickenpatti in Salem city or at Magudanchavadi in the district. But the city police denied them permission as the petition lacked details such as the number of people attending the meeting, safety arrangements, drinking water facilities, and so on. The police instructed the party to resubmit the petition with proper details. The functionaries submitted a revised petition on Saturday. Following this, the city police granted them permission to conduct meeting with 51 conditions.

The party’s Salem central district secretary, Parthiban, said the party had planned to organise a public meeting in Salem. However, due to shortage of time, only a functionaries meeting attended by 5,000 people could be arranged.

The police had listed 51 conditions for this meeting to ensure safety of functionaries and to regulate traffic.

“We will arrange all the things instructed by the police, including parking facilities, drinking water and toilet facilities, CCTV, and 10 ambulances with 10 doctors and 20 nurses. The meeting would be held at KVB Garden near Seelanaickenpatti between noon and 3 p.m. Over 500 people would ensure security for Mr. Vijay at the venue,” Mr. Parthiban added.
