Forest officials in Dindigul district have arrested two men for allegedly using an illegal live electric fence to poach wild boar near Oddanchatram on Wednesday.
According to officials, staff of the Oddanchatram forest range were on night patrol in the Sathirapatti section when they inspected a farmland at Kombaipatti in Kizhakku Ayakudi village. There they reportedly found that an electric line had been illegally drawn onto the fence around a garden owned by Ravichandran, with the intention of hunting wild boar.
The forest staff arrested T. Ravichandran and R. Sakthivel alias Manikandan. Both are alleged to have used the electrified fence to kill wild boar. A wildlife offence case has been registered against them.
