The Lokayukta officials on Wednesday held the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Malleswaram sub-division, red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 from a hotelier to allow him to run his business beyond permissible time limits.
The accused, identified as Krishna Murthy, was arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The trap followed a complaint by Sanjay Kumar, manager of a hotel in Rajajinagar. The ACP had allegedly demanded ₹50,000 to allow the hotel to operate beyond the government-mandated permissible hours.
A day earlier, a sub-inspector posted at the Chikkajala police station was held red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh for filing a ‘B report’ in a cheating case. The Lokayukta police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by Ravikumar. PSI Shivanna was arrested while he was allegedly accepting the bribe money, officials said. Officials said a cheating case was registered at the Chikkajala police against Ravikumar. To file a ‘B report’ in the case, Shivanna allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹3 lakh.
