Two days after Telangana CM’s assurance, govt constitutes high-level committee to resolve impasse over Section 22A lands

The Telangana Government has constituted a high-level officials committee to resolve the controversies relating to lands placed under Section 22A of the Registration Act.

The high-level committee will be headed by Chief Commissioner of Land Administration D.S. Lokesh Kumar and will comprise Law Secretary Papi Reddy, and Registration and Stamps Inspector General Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu as its members. Orders constituting the committee were issued on Friday (September 18, 2026) within 48 hours of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s affirmation on resolving the Section 22A issues amicably.

G.O. 118 (L.B. Nagar)

The government has taken steps to fast track other land related issues in line with the Chief Minister’s 12-point action plan. Accordingly, orders were issued to dispose of applications received under G.O. Ms. 118 from residents of colonies in L.B. Nagar on the city outskirts within a month. The circular memo issued by the government states that over 9,700 families residing in the colonies would benefit from the decision. But the regularisation would be subject to high court orders if any.

The regularisation process would start from Saturday(September 19, 2026). Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said issue of pattas regularising the lands in the areas would be a continuous process. Plot/land owners should accordingly consult the local officials concerned and ensure that their lands are regularised.

HMDA, GHMC or DTCP approved layouts and colonies

Simultaneously, process will be initiated to regularise the layouts and colonies approved by competent authorities like HMDA, GHMC or DTCP where registrations had been stalled owing to Section 22A. A decision on regularisation of these layouts/colonies would be taken in a couple of days as assured by the Chief Minister.

Singareni housing issues

The government has also decided to resolve the housing issues pertaining to the coal belt area covered by the Singareni Collieries Company Limited. Registrations in these areas had been stalled though the then government headed by late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy issued orders (G.O. 76) enabling regularisation of the house sites.

Responding positively to the grievances, the Government had entrusted Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka with the responsibility of holding discussions with the MLAs from the coal belt area to thrash out a permanent solution to the vexatious issue. The decision, Mr. Srinivas Reddy told the Assembly, followed the assurance given by the Chief Minister to the applicants seeking relief from the purview of Section 22A.
