The police seized ganja onboard an express train at Jolarpet railway station.

Two commuters were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) on an express train at Jolarpet railway station, for possession of 11 kg of ganja on Wednesday.
The police said that the arrested persons were identified as K. Prakash, 25, and his accomplice R. Sakthivel, 20. They were residents of Salem. Initial inquiry revealed that as part of a special drive against illegal transportation of narcotic substances and inflammable articles in trains under operation Narcos, police personnel were conducting surprise checks in trains.
They searched the baggage of two commuters on the Shalimar – Trivandrum Central Super-Fast Express train, and found bundles of ganja. Â
The duo tried to flee but the team managed to arrest them. A case was registered and the arrested persons were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is under way.
