Saravanakumar, 48, and his supervisor Perumal, 36, have been arrested in connection with the death of two boys from Assam, who were engaged in manufacture of black fuse illegally, in Virudhunagar district.

According to police, Saravanakumar, a DMK functionary, has his farm at Sirukulam in the district. It is said that Saravanakumar allegedly engaged the two boys, Shakibul Ali, 16, and Zaithul Hussain, 15, to produce black fuse in his farm house.

Preliminary inquiry suggested that a sudden fire engulfed the room where the two boys were working on Friday. Apparently, an electric short circuit had led to the fire and the boys died instantly.

A senior police officer, who inspected the accident site, said the two bodies were charred to death and sent to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.

After registering a case, the police formed a team and arrested Saravanakumar and Perumal on Saturday. They also booked a case against Kavitha, wife of Saravanakumar. Further investigation is on.
