Two held with country-made gun in Visakhapatnam; police say weapon was brought from Bihar

The City Task Force (CTF) on Monday (September 21, 2026) night caught two persons on a charge of possessing a country-made gun under the II Town police station limits here.

Acting on a tip-off, CTF officials raided Gollalapalem and caught the two men, both aged about 30, with the firearm. They handed the case over to the II Town police for further investigation.

The two men run a biryani centre in the city, the II Town police said. During the preliminary investigation, the police found that the accused had allegedly brought the gun from Bihar.

The police are investigating how the firearm was procured and why it was brought to Visakhapatnam.

“We will ascertain the reasons why they procured the gun as part of the further investigation,” said II Town police station Inspector B. Appala Naidu.
