The Ambattur Estate Police have arrested a person, involved in over 50 criminal cases, and his accomplice, while they were transporting ganja. Based on a tip-off about the sale of ganja, the police were conducting vehicle checks at Karukku check-post in Ambattur Estate. During the check, the police intercepted two two-wheelers ridden by R. Ramki, alias Ramachandran, 35, of Kannadapalayam, and Sivagami, 35, of ICF Colony in Athipattu. On checking their bags, the police found 10 kg of ganja concealed in them. During interrogation, it was revealed that the two accused had procured the ganja from Chennai Central railway station. Further inquiry revealed that Ramki had been involved in around 50 criminal cases registered at various police stations under the Greater Chennai, and Tambaram Police Commissionerates.
