Two youths from Rajasthan, M. Dilipkumar, 28, and J. Nikilesh Singh, 23, have been arrested here for allegedly smuggling 300 kg of banned tobacco goods.
Acting on tip-off, a special police team intercepted a sports utility vehicle (SUV) during a vehicle check near Kathapatti toll plaza on Tiruchi-Madurai Highway at Melur. The police found 300 kg of different varieties of banned tobacco goods in the vehicle that had a fake registration number.
