The Karnataka Unaided Pre-University College Managements’ Association (KUPMA) has chosen six PU college lecturers for the Dakshina Kannada district-level best teacher award.
KUPMA district president and Excellent Group of Institutions chairman Yuvaraja Jain in a statement here said the lecturers were chosen considering their contribution to the academics, behaviour, cultural activities, social causes, and literature at a recent meeting of KUPMA state and district committees in Mangaluru. The award would be presented at Siri Matrushree Industrial Park Auditorium in Ujire on October 13 at 4.30 p.m., Mr. Jain said.
The lecturers chosen for the awards are Anil Mascarenhas, physics lecturer and coordinator at Alva’s PU College, Moodbidri; Prashanth Ramachandra Hegde, biology lecturer at Excellent PU College, Moodbidri; Prasanna Kumar Aithal, sanskrit lecturer at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara PU College, Ujire; K. Prakash Nayak, principal, Sri Sharada PU College, Mangaluru; Yashoda U. Shetty, principal, Sri Ramakrishna PU College, Mangaluru; and Karunakara Balkur, Kannada lecturer, Expert PU College, Mangaluru.
Mr. Mascarenhas has years of teaching experience in Physics. Mr. Hegde has been teaching biology for the past 27 years. Mr. Aithal has been teaching sanskrit for the past 14 years. Mr. Nayak has been teaching chemistry for the past 31 years. Ms. Yashoda has been a commerce lecturer for the past 35 years. Mr. Balkur has been teaching Kannada for the past 17 years.
