Union Minister Pemmmasani slams Jagan’s remarks on land resurvey

Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmmasani Chandra Sekhar on Friday condemned the remarks made by YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP-led NDA government on land resurvey, accusing him of misleading the public by presenting only half-truths.

Dr. Chandra Sekhar inspected the works of the Rail Over Bridge at Brodipet in Guntur along with Mayor K. Ravindra (Nani).

Addressing the media later, Dr. Chandra Sekhar said Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy had alleged that the TDP was claiming credit for initiatives undertaken during the YSRCP regime, but deliberately avoided explaining critical facts related to the land resurvey process.

He explained that land resurvey involved three components, including survey and resurvey, and that States complying with Central guidelines were eligible for incentives.

“Despite having the opportunity, the YSRCP government had failed to submit required records, leading to the Centre withholding funds,” the Union Minister said.

Dr. Chandra Sekhar further said that after the TDP assumed office in 2024, Mr. Naidu had directed the officials to redress the 2.73 lakh land-related grievances through village assemblies.

Public resentment

The Union Minister said that public resentment against the YSRCP stemmed from actions such as printing Mr. Jagan’s photographs on land passbooks, erecting survey stones bearing his image on private lands, and introducing the Land Titling Act, which restricted dispute resolution to the High Court.

Refuting allegations of “credit theft,” Dr. Chandra Sekhar said the backlash was due to “political narcissism, not land surveys.”

Regarding the Shankar Vilas railway bridge, he said approvals from 17 senior officials were secured after two months of effort. Demolition began in July 2025, and the new bridge was scheduled for completion by July 2027, he added.
