A walkathon was organised in Mysuru on February 1 to create awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets and encourage their consumption.

Organised by the Department of Agriculture, the walkathon titled Siridhanya Nadige, Arogyada Kadege commenced from the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and passed through the main streets of the city before culminating near the old Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Farmers, officials of the Agriculture Department, students and members of the public participated in the walkathon, highlighting the importance of millets as a healthy food choice.

Following the walkathon, an interactive session on millets was organised at the Karnataka Exhibition Grounds. During the programme, officials provided information on the nutritional value of millets and the need to include them in daily diets.
