A cycle rally was organised by the Waltair Division as part of the Khelo India scheme’s ‘Fit India’ initiative, “Sundays on cycle,” which completed one year of its initiation by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, here, on Sunday (December 21, 2025).

The objective of the cycling programme was integrating fitness into daily life as a part of the nationwide Fit India Movement, to encourage regular physical activity among employees and the citizens. The initiative saw the active involvement of officers, children, eminent sportspersons, and employees.

The cycle rally was organized by the East Coast Railway Sports Association – Waltair, under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra, and coordinated by Sports Officer M. Haranadh and General Secretary N. Usha. The rally commenced from Tenneti Park and traversed towards the Vizag Viewpoint on the beach road.

Speaking on the occasion the DRM said that the Fit India Movement, launched by the Prime Minister in 2019, aims to make fitness an essential part of daily life for all citizens. Under this vision, the Fit India Cycling Drive, initiated on December 17, 2024, in New Delhi, has evolved into a nationwide campaign.

The campaign now incorporates activities such as Yoga, Zumba, and skipping rope alongside cycling, broadening community participation and fostering a culture of regular physical activity.
