The Malkapuram police have registered a case against a Welfare Secretary of a ward secretariat for allegedly failing to distribute pension amounts to 64 beneficiaries and not depositing the undistributed money with the secretariat.

According to the police, I. Devudu Babu, Welfare Secretary of the Janata Colony Secretariat in Malkapuram, was entrusted with ₹3 lakh on October 1 for distributing pensions to 80 beneficiaries.

Of the 80 pensions, Mr. Devudu Babu allegedly distributed the pension amounts to only 16 beneficiaries, totalling ₹83,000. He allegedly failed to distribute the remaining amount of ₹2.17 lakh meant for 64 pensioners.

The police said the Welfare Secretary neither distributed the amount to the remaining beneficiaries nor deposited the money back with the secretariat. He subsequently left without handing over the amount, following which Ward Secretariat officials lodged a complaint with the Malkapuram police.
