Wellness tourism in Kanniyakumari; district administration sends plan to government

Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap on Thursday said that a proposal had been sent to the Tamil Nadu government to implement ‘Wellness Tourism,’ in the district to attract more domestic and international tourists.

He said this while flagging off an awareness rally organised as part of the 11th National Ayurveda Day, at the district Collectorate.

He said the National Ayurveda Day was being observed by the Indian government on September 23. As part of the observance, the awareness rally has been flagged off on the theme, “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow.” He added that the day was being observed with the objective of popularising ayurvedic medicine among the public.

The Collector further noted that, on the lines of Keralam, a proposal had been sent to the Tamil Nadu government to implement ‘Wellness Tourism,’ in the district to attract more domestic and international tourists. Once the proposal is considered by the Chief Minister, and the project is implemented in the district, the number of tourists visiting the district will increase, thereby contributing to the economic growth.

Clarence Davi, Principal of Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Kottar, along with staff and students of the college and students and staff from private Ayurveda medical colleges in the district were present.
