A delegation of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Wednesday approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in New Delhi, alleging breakdown of law and order and human rights violations in Andhra Pradesh.
The delegation met NHRC Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian and submitted a complaint on the alleged attacks on the residences of former Ministers Ambati Rambabu and Jogi Ramesh, and the alleged killing of a Dalit activist, Salman.
The leaders presented video clips and photographs, claiming attempts to physically target opposition leaders.
The YSRCP said the NHRC Chairperson indicated that a report would be sought from the Director- General of Police, with the possibility of a fact-finding team being sent to the State.
Members of the delegation included MPs Y.V. Subba Reddy, P. Mithun Reddy, M. Gurumoorthy, Golla Babu Rao, Meda Raghunath Reddy, Subhash Chandra Bose, Ayodhya Ramireddy and Tanuja Rani, along with several MLAs, MLCs, former Ministers and party functionaries.
Speaking after the meeting, the YSRCP leaders alleged rising attacks on Dalits and police inaction. They demanded urgent intervention to restore law and order, and ensure accountability for alleged human rights violations, a press release said.
