Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jagtial, C. Ratna Padmavathi, on Wednesday sentenced seven persons to life imprisonment in a murder case.
Upon trial, the judge awarded life imprisonment to all the seven accused – Sunke Ramesh, Sunke Raju, Sunke Ranjith, Sunke Suresh, Sunke Lakshmi, Sunke Rajeshwari and Sunke Dasharath – for murdering Padala Raja Reddy of Ibrahimpatnam village on June 15, 2021.
According to the prosecution, the first and second accused attacked Raja Reddy with iron rods and sticks, leading to his death. The remaining accused incited and supported the attack. The attack followed a verbal altercation during a wedding ceremony. Padala Chinna Raja Reddy, the victim’s younger brother, tried to intervene, but was also severely injured.
In a statement, Jagtial Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar commended the efforts of the police team for ensuring conviction of the accused and securing justice for the victim’s family.
