With the inflow into the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam in Mandya district continuing to rise, authorities have issued a flood warning for residents living along the banks of the Cauvery river and in low-lying areas.

Heavy rain in the dam’s catchment areas has led to an increase in inflow, prompting dam authorities to prepare for the release of surplus water ranging between 30,000 and 50,000 cusecs. Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL), KRS Division, stated that the outflow from the dam could increase at any time, depending on the inflows.

Authorities have also sounded a flood alert for areas downstream of the Kabini reservoir as rain continues to batter the catchment regions.

Meanwhile, a holiday has been declared for schools in some parts of Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga due to the heavy rains.
