Six-year-old boy run over by speeding truck in Mallampet

A six-year-old boy was killed after he was run over by a tipper truck in Mallampet on Friday morning. The victim, Abhimanshu, a Class I student, was being driven to school by his mother, Niharika, on a scooter at the time of the accident, said an officer from the Dundigal police.

The CCTV footage of the accident, shows the child being run over by the rear wheels of the heavy vehicle killing him on the spot. However, the official claimed that the truck rammed into the two-wheeler from the rear, causing the child to fall down. The driver failed to notice the boy on the road and continued driving without stopping.

The Dundigal police responded to the scene, detained the driver, and registered a case of death by negligence. The boy’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
