The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State committee leaders on Saturday slammed the government for delay in releasing the promised job calendar.

In a statement, the federation’s State president Y. Ramu and general secretary G. Ramanna alleged that the coalition government in the Andhra Pradesh had failed to keep its promise on the release of job calendar every year. Though the previous government had issued 18 notifications through the A.P. Public Service Commission (APPSC), recruitments were pending on account of legal tangles, they said. Some of them were stuck at the preliminary level, some at the main exam level and a few others at the interview level. They demanded that the government do the needful to resolve these legal hurdles and clear the way for recruitments.

The federation leaders said that 10 lakh unemployed youth were waiting for job notifications and cited vacancies in different departments. They said besides 5,000 vacancies in different departments, there were nearly 4,000 vacant posts of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors in the 18 public Universities in the State, which should be filled immediately. There were also 800 vacant posts of Beat Officer and Range Officer in the Forest Department, over 15,000 posts in the Electricity Department and over 3,000 vacant posts in the municipalities across the State.

They warned that any further delay on the issue would force them to launch State-wide protests.
