Track restoration between Jarati and Maliguda stations on the Koraput–Kirandul section under Waltair Division has been completed.
A landslide on July 2 had disrupted train operations between Koraput and Kirandul after a large portion of the track was buried under approximately 25,000 cubic meters of mud and boulders.
A total of 16 excavators and heavy earth-moving machines were deployed at the site. Over 300 personnel, including engineers, technical staff and ground workers, worked round the clock. Divisional Railway Manager (Waltair) Lalit Bohra, DRM (Rayagada) Amitabh Singhal, Additional DRMs and other officers monitored the work and ensured that speedy restoration.
After removal of debris, the affected track was certified fit by July 4 evening. As a safety measure, train operations were permitted with a restricted speed on the affected site. Work related to Overhead Equipment (OHE), Signalling and other Safety Systems is under way and is expected to be completed soon.
East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal lauded the dedicated efforts of the workforce and the leadership of the officers involved. He commended the entire team for their commitment and resilience.
Train services will resume shortly after the completion of restoration relating to signalling and OHE. However, due to rake adjustments and the temporary unavailability of coaching rakes, some trains have been cancelled or partially cancelled.
Passengers are advised to check the latest updates through official railway channels before planning their journey.
