Two murder accused were arrested from Rohini, north-west Delhi, following a brief encounter, a police officer said on Friday.
The accused, Sombir alias Chinu, a native of Hisar in Haryana, and Vijay, a Chandigarh resident, were associated with Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang and involved in the murder of Deepak, a nephew of gangster Manjeet Mahal, said the officer.
“Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted the two accused near Munak Canal. When asked to surrender, they opened fire, forcing the police to retaliate,” the officer said.
The two accused received gunshot injuries in their legs and were admitted to a hospital.
The police have recovered two country-made pistols and seven live cartridges from their possession, the officer added.
