The Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement(IPRE) Unit of Tamil Nadu Police has seized fake paints of a leading brand from hardware shops and arrested three persons for selling them.
Police said on Wednesday, M. Thambusamy, assistant manager of SGS IPR Consultancy, New Delhi, a private company that monitors and reports those who manufacture and sell fake products under the names of leading brands in the market, filed a complaint with the officers of the Unit regarding the manufacture and sale of fake paints under the names of leading company Asian Paints.
The Chennai Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Cell unit conducted a raid in the Ayyappanthangal and Thandalam area. During the raid, it was found that Palpandi, Arokiyasamy and Saravanan, residents of the same area, were selling fake products. During the enquiry, it was found that the three were buying cheap fake paints and selling them in buckets bearing the name of Asian Paints. They arrested the trio and seized fake paint buckets worth Rs. 1.73 lakh from them.
