Lonato World Cup opens with skeet action

The skeet shooters will be in action over the next three days in the Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy.

Bhavtegh Singh Gill, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Anantjeet Singh Naruka will spearhead the Indian challenge in the men’s section, which will feature 181 shooters from 60 countries.

World record holder Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Rajveer Singh Rathore will compete in the RPO section.

Maheshwari Chauhan, Raiza Dhillon and Ganemat Sekhon will form the women’s team, and Kajal Singh Baghel will shoot in the RPO section. The women’s field will have 80 shooters from 34 countries.

It will be 50 birds each on the first two days of competition, and the third day will feature the last round of 25 birds, followed by the final for the top six.

The trap competition will be held on July 11 and 12, with around 290 shooters in the men’s and women’s events. The first day will feature three rounds, and the next day, two rounds plus the final for the top six. The mixed trap will be held on July 13.
