Members of several unions held a protest against Telangana government’s decision permitting daily work hours to be increased from eight to 10 hours at commercial establishments.
A Government Order (G.O.) pertaining to this was issued by the government on July 5; while the daily work hours were permitted to be increased, weekly work hours remain to be 48 hours.
Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and others staged a protest at RTC Cross Raods in Hyderabad on Monday (July 7, 2025) demanding the G.O. to be revoked. They walked to the Labour Department’s office and submitted a representation to the officials.
