Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Tuesday arrested Manish Kumar, partner-cum-competent person of Arvind Pharma Distributors in Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, for dealing in counterfeit anti-epileptic drugs. The arrest follows the seizure of counterfeit ‘Levipil 500’ tablets, falsely labelled as being manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited.

Following his arrest, Manish Kumar was produced before the X Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court in Secunderabad. The court remanded him to judicial custody until July 23. He has since been lodged at Chanchalguda Jail, said a release.

The seizure was made during a raid conducted on July 4 on the premises of Arvind Pharma Distributors, located in the SBI Staff Colony, Gandhinagar. Acting on intelligence inputs, DCA officials discovered counterfeit versions of ‘Levipil 500’, an anti-epileptic drug used in the treatment of seizures. A comparative analysis with a genuine batch confirmed the tablets were counterfeit, as verified by Sun Pharma Laboratories.
