In an effort to enhance the safety of women and girls, the Eluru district police have intensified patrols and awareness campaigns through the Shakti squad.

Acting on the instructions of District Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore, the initiatives are being led by M. Subbarao, inspector of the Eluru women police station.

In Eluru town, the Shakti squad has been actively patrolling around schools and colleges. As part of their outreach, they visited institutions like C.R. Reddy Women’s Degree College and informed students about the Shakti toll-free helpline number 7993485111 and explained how it could be used during emergencies.

Using the Abhaya awareness vehicle, the team conducted sessions on various critical issues, including cybercrimes, online fraud, harassment of women, and methods of self-defence. They also addressed the issue of inappropriate behaviour by miscreants near educational institutions, interacted with girl students, and encouraged them to report safety concerns without hesitation.
