The Cabinet has approved a two-day event to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru of Sikhism, at Red Fort on November 24 and 25, said Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
The Minister said that Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom is not just a part of Sikh history, it is a message of freedom, tolerance and justice for all of humanity.
“I thank Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and my Cabinet colleagues for approving this landmark tribute, the first of its kind in Delhi. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, who has consistently brought Sikh history, sacrifice, and valour to the forefront on the national and global stage, and under the effective guidance of CM Rekha Gupta, this celebration is a historic recognition of Delhi’s deep-rooted connection with Sikhism,” Mr. Sirsa said.
