The Parappana Agrahara police on Wednesday arrested four men for allegedly gang-raping a 34-year-old woman, who was at her friend’s house, and later robbing both the victim and her friend, on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Raghu alias Appu, 23, Kenchegowda, 26, Madesha, 27, and Shashikumar, 24.

According to the police, the victim had gone to her friend Nagesh’s house on his invitation. Nagesh had also called Raghu to his house. However, Raghu arrived with three others, and the four accused reportedly barged into the house, threatened the woman and Nagesh with a police case, and assaulted them before allegedly gang-raping the woman.

They later allegedly forced the victim to transfer money to an online gaming application. While the woman transferred ₹12,000, Nagesh transferred ₹8,000. The accused then hailed a goods vehicle and allegedly looted household items,  along with two mobile phones, before fleeing the scene.

The accused also allegedly threatened the duo against approaching the police.

The police said that the victim filed a complaint on Monday night, and based on footage from CCTV cameras and other evidence, the four accused were arrested. The prime accused, according to the police, is a hotel employee and addicted to online gaming. He had incurred losses and hatched a plan to extort money from Nagesh and the victim, taking advantage of their relationship, the police said.
