YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the NDA government in the State of adopting repressive tactics against the protesting farmers, while failing to provide minimum support prices (MSP) for key crops.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who visited Bangarupalem on Wednesday to express his solidarity with the mango farmers, alleged that the government used the police force to “detain, beat, and harass” the farmers and YSRCP supporters. Taking to X on Thursday, he charged the ruling coalition with using friendly media to distort facts.

“Over 76,000 mango farmers cultivating in over 2.2 lakh acres have been forced to throw away their produce due to a lack of MSP,” he said.

While the government announced ₹4 a kg and instructed factories to pay ₹8 a kg, JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy secured a Central assurance for ₹16 a kg. “This is a man-made price crash. The deliberate delay in pulp factory purchases caused a glut. The aim is clear: to benefit corporate allies like Galla Factory and Srini Foods,” he alleged.

In contrast, the YSRCP administration had procured crops worth ₹7,800 crore, maintained a ₹3,000 crore Price Stabilisation Fund, and ensured timely implementation of schemes such as Annadata Sukhibhava, he said. “Today, there is no CM App, no input subsidy, no free crop insurance, no RBKs, no fertiliser distribution, and no transparency. Promised payment of ₹20,000 has not been made for two years now,” he said.

“MSP for staple crops like paddy, cotton, chilli, jowar, ragi, maize, banana, onion, and tobacco has vanished,” he added.
