Automobile engineer Santosh Loni’s first solo water colour painting exhibition, Noorondu Neerabanna, will be held at Kunchabrahma Dr. M.V. Minajagi Art Gallery in Hubballi from July 13 to 28.
Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on Thursday, Minajagi Art Gallery Committee president and senior artist R.G. Garag said that Santosh Loni working in the Tata Hitachi Plant in Dharwad has produced fine paintings in water colour, though he has not received any formal education in fine arts.
The Art Gallery has organised the solo painting exhibition with the objective of promoting young artists and hopes that the fine art enthusiasts of Hubballi-Dharwad will encourage him.
Santosh Loni, who has a diploma degree in automobile engineering, said that he has had keen interest in painting from his childhood which he nurtured over a period with encouragement from well-wishers.
“It is a proud moment for me as I have been chosen by senior artists for holding my first solo painting exhibition. Over 100 water colour paintings will be on display and for sale during the exhibition,” he said.
Secretary R.G. Mallapur said that the exhibition will be inaugurated by senior artist V.D. Badiger and senior officials of Tata Hitachi will participate as guests.
During the exhibition, Santosh Loni will also be holding a demonstration on water colour paintings, he said.
Artist Shankar Kadakuntla said that the Gallery Committee has plans to organise weekend painting classes for children and also other events aimed at involving more people of the twin cities in the promotion of fine arts.
Artist K.V. Manjula appealed to the general public to visit the gallery to see the painting exhibition and encourage the artist by buying paintings.
