The water level in Godavari river at Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district hovered around 37.60 feet late on Friday evening, nearly 5 feet below the first flood warning level of 43 feet, due to increase in inflow from the catchment areas of the river.
According to sources, the copious inflow from the upper reaches pushed up the water level in the river from 33.30 feet at 6 a.m. to 37.60 feet at 7 p.m. at the temple town on Friday.
Superintendent of Police B. Rohith Raju along with other police officials visited the karakatta (flood bank) abutting the river in Bhadrachalam on Friday evening to take stock of the flood preparedness along the river course.
