Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said that her government was aiming to transform Delhi into the country’s most dynamic city through robust policy measures, active public participation and place it on the global tourism map.

“Our dream is that whenever foreign tourists visit India, they should not return without visiting Delhi,” the Chief Minister said at the ‘DELIGHT for Delhi’ summit, organised by the Tourism Department. The summit aims to position Delhi as a leading city under the vision of Driving Experiential Leadership, Innovative Growth, and High-Impact Tourism (DELIGHT).

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Gupta said, “Delhi is not just the capital of India but also the soul of the nation.”

“It is a city that embodies rich culture, diverse heritage, and glorious history. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi today represents a remarkable confluence of modernity and tradition. Iconic destinations such as Bharat Mandapam, Yashobhoomi, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, and the National War Memorial have helped establish Delhi as a global cultural and historical tourism centre,” she said.

The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister has consistently prioritised the development of tourism in the country, and the Delhi government too is committed to taking the Capital to new heights through coordinated efforts across sectors.

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, who was present at the summit, said that the government was gathering insights and suggestions from experienced participants from across the country and abroad to prepare a strong and practical roadmap that will help develop Delhi as a global tourism destination.
