Two persons were killed when a mini-van hit them near Sholavaram. when A cleaner of a mini-van rammed its driver and a watchman, who were standing near the gate of a private firm near Sholavaram. CCTV footage of the accident went viral.
The accident took place at a private firm in Orakkadu village near Ponneri of Tiruvallur district. The driver of the mini-van stopped the vehicle outside the firm and went to the watchman to ask him to open the gate.
At this moment, the cleaner of the van, who was inside the vehicle, suddenly drove it inside and hit the two of them. The vehicle came to a stop after hitting a concrete wall.
The watchman and thedriver were grievously injured. Workers on the premises rushed them to a nearby private hospital. However, the doctors there declared them brought dead.
The deceased have been identified as watchman Prabu, 50, of Alli Nagar village, and driver Karuppusamy, 23, of Tenkasi.
Sholavaram police recovered the bodies, and conducted an investigation. They arrested the cleaner Rooban, 18, after scrutinising the CCTV footage.
