In a move toward inclusive urban mobility and economic empowerment, Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC), in collaboration with CGI, launched a skill development programme to train over 100 women and transgender individuals as professional autorickshaw drivers.
The launch event was held in Bengaluru on Saturday and was attended by Union Minister of State for MSME and Labour & Employment, Shobha Karandlaje. “Empowering women through skill development and dignified livelihood opportunities is a key priority. This initiative reflects our commitment to Nari Shakti and inclusive growth,” she said.
The 60-day training programme covers driving skills, life skills, road safety, financial literacy, and provides support for obtaining driving licenses. Participants will also receive fuel and rental support, and assistance to access auto-rickshaws through tie-ups with financial institutions.
