The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on Monday (July 14, 2025), voiced concerns over reports that Tamil Nadu government had not yet paid compensation and provided a job to the widow of  Murugan who died in March last year after being thrashed allegedly by the policemen in Sankarankovil, despite the direction of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

In a post on his social media handle, Mr. Palaniswami said the widow, who has three children, is working for ₹300. Would she get an answer from the Chief Minister, the AIADMK leader asked, adding that there had been reports that the family of Ajith Kumar who died in police custody, had expressed displeasure over the solatium and job provided.

“I strongly urge the @mkstalin model DMK government to immediately provide due compensation to the families of those who lost their lives due to custodial deaths.,” he wrote.
